Who we are - the team at Evolved Intelligence

Evolved Intelligence boasts an unusual combination of telecoms industry experience within different disciplines. We have assembled a world-class team. It is a team that is more than just the sum of its parts. It is a group of like-minded people that, between them, have an outstanding range of talents and are achieving great things.

Key members of our team are described below.

Dave Edwards - CEO & Managing Director

Dave Edwards has had a long career in the telecom industry working at the highest levels for both operators and suppliers.

He began his career with ten years working for the organisation that was to become British Telecom. Here he performed a variety of technical and management roles, an experience which gave him a broad knowledge base covering traffic engineering, switching and radio.

Aware of the potential of mobile communications, Dave then joined Motorola. There, over a period of eight years, he helped to build the nascent infrastructure organisation in the UK into one of the largest and most profitable organisations in the company. This period saw the rollout of Motorola's mobile analogue technology and the development of the GSM standard.

When the new PCN licences were awarded in the UK, Dave joined the new start up company, Microtel. This was later to become Orange UK with headquarters in Bristol. His initial role was as Head of Handset, SIM and OMC Engineering. He also had responsibility for system integration of the total network. His role was essentially to oversee the roll out of what was, at the time, the world's largest mobile network.

Dave then became Director of Engineering and Information Technology where he led a team of several hundred engineers, IT analysts and software developers. During this time, he ensured that Orange's engineering and IT systems were fully specified, procured and resourced during the period prior to network launch.

His time at Orange had led to Dave identifying some gaps in the product and engineering tools used by operators to improve efficiency and revenue. This led to him forming Aethos Communications Systems in order to provide consultancy services and products to improve radio network planning and to provide improved Intelligent Network services.

Aethos became one of the main proponents in the introduction of prepaid mobile services to the industry. They offered a high capacity, high availability system which went on to support many operators around the world and many millions of end users.

Aethos was acquired by Logica in 1998. Since that time Dave has provided high level consultancy services to a number of operators, network investors and infrastructure suppliers.
