SS7 Based Roaming Steering
Do you want to be able to control which partner networks your roamers connect to?
Do you want to be able to get the best rates?
And do you want to avoid temporary quality problems in partner networks?
Then you need a real-time network based steering system.
Why implement roaming steering?
In the short term, steering can save you a lot of money. It allows you to send your roaming customers to wherever you get the best price. We have seen differences of up to 40% between operators. In the longer term, steering increases the competition for your business between your roaming partners, driving down costs and improving terms.
Full Control
Our system follows all of the GSMA guidelines for steering. It allows you to set percentage targets for business between your various partners in each territory. The system updates progress against the set targets on a near real time basis. You can see exactly how close you are to required targets at any time.
The system operates on a “minimum intervention” basis. If results are within a pre-set percentage of target, then the system does not intervene at all. This minimises the impact of steering on the user’s experience.
The Roaming Steering application is probabilistic in operation. This means that, if one subscriber finds it difficult to attach to the first choice of partner, for whatever reason, it is not a problem. The system will allow him to attach to an alternative operator. The targets will be made up by steering others instead. This behaviour is ideal from the point of view of the maximisation of revenue and customer service. The system also correctly handles data attachment behaviour and manual attachment requests.
Dynamic Control
With our Roaming Steering application, you have full dynamic control over your steering. If you strike a new, more attractive deal, with a partner, you can start steering more traffic to them the very next minute. If you detect a technical problem with a particular partner, you can steer traffic away from them immediately (and immediately put traffic back when the problem has been cleared. Our on line monitoring service can show you where your roamers are in near real time.
Roaming Steering is also known as preferred roaming, SS7 steering or SS7 network control.
SS7 Analytics
Our SS7 Analytics application uses the Network Interface Function gives you an insight into the behaviour of your roamers.
It provides you with the means to:
- Investigate roaming steering issues
- Investigate the causes of individual subscriber service problems
- Reconcile interconnect traffic with signalling bills
- Identify potential SS7 based and other types of fraud
- Analyse roaming subscriber behaviour and phone usage
- And much, much more
Evolved Intelligence’s SS7 Analytics service collates all of the SS7 signalling information that is generated by your network and presents it in an easy to access form. It allows ad hoc queries on individual MISDNs or VLR’s etc to help troubleshoot issues. It also provides indexed data as a feed for your favourite reporting tool.
